What most people get wrong
- Diagonal brace pointing the wrong way. Low corner MUST be on the hinge side — flip it and the gate sags in a month.
- Hinges screwed into a picket instead of the frame stile. The screws pull out and the gate drops.
- Undersized posts. Gate posts take four times the load of line posts — go 6×6 and set them deep.
