Answers, in plain language
Everything about takeoffs, plans, billing and permits. If your question isn't here, a real person answers support email — usually the same day.
Getting started
- What does DIYBlueprintPro actually give me?
- Enter your job specs and you get a material takeoff with quantities, a regional cost estimate, a cut list, a permit summary for your state and metro, and a step-by-step build guide you can print or send to a client as a PDF.
- Is the calculator free?
- Yes. Every takeoff and cost estimate is free and unlimited, with no card required. Paid plans unlock the full build guide, printable blueprints, shopping-list exports, permit packets and branded client PDFs.
- Do I get anything paid for free first?
- Your first complete build guide is free on your account. You spend it on one project of your choice so you can see the finished deliverable before deciding whether to pay.
Billing and plans
- What is the difference between the $19 unlock and the $19/month plan?
- The one-time unlock covers a single project forever. The monthly plan costs the same and covers every project you plan, plus permit lookups, price alerts and branded client PDFs. Annual is $190.
- How do I cancel?
- Open your Account page and choose Manage billing. Cancelling stops future renewals immediately and you keep full access until the end of the period you already paid for.
- My card was declined — did I lose my projects?
- No. Your saved projects stay on your account. Update your card on the Account page and access continues uninterrupted; nothing is deleted when a payment fails.
- Can I get a refund?
- Yes — 30 days, no questions asked, on both subscriptions and one-time unlocks. See the refund policy page for how to request one.
Estimates, permits and accuracy
- How accurate are the cost estimates?
- Costs are modelled from regional material price indexes tied to your ZIP and from published contractor labour rates. They are estimates only, not quotes. Always confirm quantities and prices with your local supplier before you buy.
- Does a human review my estimate or build guide?
- No. Material lists, cut lists, cost estimates, and build guides are generated automatically by software and AI models from the dimensions and options you enter. No employee of Aperture Forge LLC reviews your project before the results are shown. That's why we ask you to confirm your measurements and verify outputs with local suppliers and your building department.
- Why do I have to confirm my measurements?
- Because a mistyped dimension is the single most expensive error in a material list. We ask you to re-read your key dimensions before any material, cut or shopping list is generated.
- Are the permit results legal advice?
- No. Permit summaries are informational, drawn from state rules and metro-level thresholds, and change often. Confirm with your local building department before starting work.
- If I hire a pro through the app, are they your employee?
- No. Any contractor you connect with through DIYBlueprintPro is an independent third party. We are not a general contractor, staffing agency, or inspector. We don't vet, guarantee, supervise, or insure their work. You're responsible for contracts, insurance, permits, and payment with the pro you hire.
For contractors
- Can I put my own logo on client documents?
- Yes. Add your company name, logo and colours once in your profile and every exported estimate, blueprint and client PDF carries your branding.
- Can my crew have access?
- Yes — contractor onboarding lets you set seats, name a billing contact and invite your team by email.
- Do you pay for referrals?
- Yes. Every pro account gets a trackable referral code, and rewards are credited automatically when a referred contractor activates billing. Clicks, conversions and reward history are visible on your Account page.
